What is value creation in oil & gas?
Our definition of value creation is the use of time, money and management to effect possible growth in assets, cash flow and profits.
How do you create value?
Every situation is different. A company has to objectively assess its strengths and weaknesses. A company may have excellent management and targeted projects but capital is insufficient to implement its plan. A company may have capital and competent management, but access to quality deal flow is scarce. A hybrid of these situations requires real world analysis to determine the right next strategic step.
What does Brycap do?
We use our experiences to assess where in a given company value creation can be developed. Sometimes it is obvious, sometimes it is not.
What experiences?
Bryant H. Patton, founder and principal of Brycap, has over 30 years of dealing with primarily the non-technical complexities of the oil and gas business. From 2000 until the end of 2007, he was an officer and director of Camden Resources, Inc., an upstream exploration and production company that actively developed oil and gas reserves primarily in south Texas. Camden drilled 85 deep wells (down to 18,500’) and produced over 70 gross BCFE. Camden was merged into Cinco Natural Resources Corporation at the end of 2007 and Mr. Patton returned full time to his efforts at Brycap. From 1990 through early 1999, as Senior Vice President of Associated Energy Managers, he was involved in the deployment of over $350 million dollars of non-recourse senior debt capital to independent oil and gas companies. From 1986 to 1990, he worked with several small oil and gas companies in efforts to raise capital, restructure assets and access business growth opportunities. Beginning his career in 1977 at TTE, Inc., he worked in this fully integrated oil and gas company ultimately playing a key role in the restructuring of 5 of the 7 companies by 1986.
So Brycap raises money?
There is no panacea in raising capital. You have to have exceptional projects, excellent management that is at risk, and the ability to present your company and capital requirements in a realistic light. The reality is that one does not raise money, sophisticated capital finds opportunity.
Does Brycap invest money?
Brycap holds interests in several entities that have capital to invest in high quality oil and gas projects.
